Both kids and adults will enjoy the Delhi train museum. There are over 30 engines and passenger cars displayed in their train yard. It's allowed to climb inside every engine to see what it was like for the train operator in the old days. There is a small museum filled with interesting memorabilia like conductor uniforms and fine china from restaurant carts. Younger kids will love the imitation train ride. You must purchase a separate ticket (10 Rs) for each passenger for the train ride. A conductor walks around to collect everyone's tickets, rings the station bell and off you go! There is a small cafe on promises serving hot chai and snacks.
Allow 2-4 hours for this activity, depending on how much you want to read about each retired train. It's conveniently located in the center of N. Delhi close to all the major hotels.
