If you want to escape the traffic and nightime noise of downtown Vancouver, the Pinnacle Hotel at the Pier is a great choice for families. Large "Studio" rooms have a super-comfortable king bed for mom and dad, and a sofabed tucked away in an an alcove for the kids. There's enough room for a crib, and a huge walk in closet to store everything.

We loved the indoor swimming pool. Even though it's set up for lap swimming, there was plenty of shallow space for the kids to play, and the big floor to ceiling windows brought in sunlight even on a gray day.

Each room has a refrigerator and microwave, making it easy to serve breakfast or an afternoon snack in the room.

In the mornings, it's easy to eat in the hotel restaurant, or take a walk over to the Lonsdale Quay Market for some fresh fruit or a pastry.

Access to downtown Vancouver is easy via the kid friendly SeaBus (the ride takes about 12 minutes) but be aware that if your initiatory includes a lot of back and forth over the bridges, you may run into traffic.
