Every year, over 25,000 monarch butterflies winter in Pebble Beach. Their population has been dropping over the years, so this is something to see while your children are young, and a great way to teach about our changing environment.
The butterflies arrive in October (approximately) and depart by March. The dates vary each year, so be sure to call the park before you visit. Plan your trip in the afternoon, and preferably on a sunny day to see the butterflies in action.
