The Lincoln Park Zoo prides itself on offering something for everyone, from animal exhibits to paddleboats to spray fountains and even a carousel. The hilight for our city-living family, though, was the small farm within the zoo where my kids got to feed the cows, visit a Pig and her newborn piglets, and see an owl up close.

The Zoo is open almost every day of the year and is FREE. It is easily accessible by taxi or bus. Make sure to check out the carousel, the Children's Zoo and the Farm. You can feed the cows every morning (around 10 am, I think). There is also a storytime at the Farm every Monday and Wednesday at 9:15 and 10 am. For free, no sign up required.
