Although, the kids do not like the taste of tabasco they love getting the free miniture bottle of tabasco after the tour. There is so much to see here and the kids love to run through all the outside space. It can be an all day event if you want it to be, and it is very inexpensive because admission for the tabasco tour is free for everyone! Also, beautiful gardens to see, and admission is very inexpensive.
GETTING THERE: Avery Island is 145 miles from New Orleans, 23 miles from Lafayette, La., and nine miles from New Iberia. A car is essential for the trip. There is a $1 toll to enter the island.
