One of the things that makes Seattle feel special, both to residents and visitors, is it's neighborhoods, each with their own character. Madison Park is an upscale, kid friendly neighborhood that's not far from downtown and has a more "beachy" feel because of its location on Lake Washington. Madison Park is among my favorite playgrounds in Seattle, and it's the only one of my favorites with a variety of good restaurants in walking distance. The playground has three play areas - one for younger kids, a more challenging area for older kids, and a third are with a zipline. Pathways around the play area make a nice place for young kids to practice riding bikes, and the beach is just a short walk away. more

A pleasant beach with both grassy and sandy areas as well as limited shade. There's a swimming raft for good swimmers. A lifeguard is on duty during summer months. more

This upscale Mexican restaurant has a casual feel that works well for families, and large booths accommodate kids well. Don't expect the typical refried beans and rice slopped on a platter here - in addition to typical dishes (like tortilla soup) you'll also find regional specialties and creative items like Camarones El Diablo (Crispy white Mexican prawns, spicy Diablo sauce, coriander–pasilla verduras escabeche, mango–pineapple mojo) more

This upscale children's shop carries traditionally styled premier children's brands for everyone from infants to pre-teens. Expect to find brands like Petit Bateau, Lilly Pulitzer and Catimini. Kids can also have their hair cut at a small salon in the back of the store (call in advance for an appointment). more
