The old fashioned signs on the front gate set the tone for your visit to Minea Cider. Before you enter the old farm building, take a moment to watch the old fashioned water wheel turn. Fresh cider is pressed on the premises, and the welcoming owners are happy to let kids watch whatever part of the process is in operation at the moment. On non-cider-making days, a video shows the press running so that kids can understand how the cider is made. more
Redhook Ale Brewery (Factory Tour and Restaurant)

Visiting a brewery might seem like a strange recommendation coming from a website about traveling with kids, but the Redhook Brewery's factory tour is one of my kids favorite Woodinville activities. The tour begins with information about Redhook's history and the opportunity to taste several different beers, so you may choose to join the tour after about 20 minutes, just in time for the visit to the bottling operations. Redhook runs its entire bottling operation from this facility. The line is almost entirely automated, requiring only four attendants to run. Kids love watching the bottles make their journey through the washer, the filler, into crates and up the conveyor belt to the warehouse. Note that the clanging bottles are quite loud, so this might not be a great choice for babies. more

Thenos Ice Cream and Dairy

Thenos Dairy (and Vivian's Pride Ice Cream) is an old fashioned ice cream parlor that has long been a regular stop on weekend trips to Woodinville. Thenos makes its own ice cream and fudge, and while the premium ice creams available today make Thenos traditional ice cream seem a little understated, it is well worth a stop. more
