When our oldest son was 4 months old, we spent a week travelling around Tasmania in a camper van. (We did a counter-clockwise circle starting in Hobart.) We found it extremely conventient and cost effective to have the camper. Our little guy breastfed on demand in those days, so being able to pull off the road just about anywhere was a great help. There are camp grounds all around the island and it just added so much flexibility to our trip.
Our kids are older now but I'm positive would love to experience Tassie by camper (when we get back over to that side of the world again!)
BTW - We brought our own carseat to use and obviously kept him in it while driving.
