About Us

About DeliciousBaby

DeliciousBaby is for parents who want to travel with their children, but don't know how to start or who already travel with their kids and want to learn how to make travel easier and more fun. I write about travel destinations, share my own travel stories (in the US and internationally) and share my tips and advice on issues like how to keep kids busy on a plane, surviving jet-lag, and flying with carseats. I also share new news and information that impacts traveling families on an ongoing basis.

Many family travel articles in the mainstream media are written by parents of older kids or writers who do not travel. I offer the perspective and real-world tips that only a mom who travels frequently with her kids can offer. Having a whole blog devoted to family travel lets me discuss issues parents have questions about in depth and keep them informed about what's important. As DeliciousBaby has grown, it has also become a great place for parents to share information and tips, and today I learn as much from my readers as I hope they learn from me.

Passports With Purpose Fundraiser for Heifer International
Together with Pam Mandel of Nerds Eye View, Beth Whitman of Wanderlust and Lipstick, and Michelle Duffy of Wandermom, I organized a travel blogger's fundraiser for Heifer International. Over 40 travel bloggers from around the world participated in Passports With Purpose, bringing in raffle prizes that included resort stays, video cameras, travel gear, and baby travel gear. The fundraiser raised $7420 for Heifer. We intend to continue this tradition in December 2009.

About Me

My name is Debbie Dubrow, and I live in Seattle, WA. My husband and I are relatively new parents (a 4 year old, a 2.5 -year old and a newborn at this writing). We travel frequently with our children to destinations primarily in the US and Europe. We also traveled extensively before having kids through Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the US.

Before we had kids, we traveled all the time, we ate out, we wore clothing devoid of spit-up or applesauce, and generally lived "the good life". We’ve always known that we wanted to start a family, and we’ve always wanted to find a balance between our carefree pre-baby lives and our full family life.

We’ve watched friends struggle with this balance. Some have said “we cannot travel anywhere until they're teenagers”. Others hire childcare or leaving the kids with grandparents during trips. We wanted to find a way to travel to places that are interesting to us, and make them fun for our kids to. It takes effort, some advance planning, and a tolerance for unpredictability, but we feel like we’ve managed to find a balance that lets us explore the world with our kids. We hope that as the kids grow, the travel will help them develop a perspective broader than their own backyard.

I want readers to value my reviews and my opinion, so I am careful to recommend only products that I think are relevant and useful for traveling families. If you represent a company with a relevant product that you think is a good fit for DeliciousBaby, email me (debbie at deliciousbaby dot com) to have it considered for review. Accepting a product does not guarantee a review and coverage may or may not be positive. Reviews of any received products will disclose the source of the item, and products valued at over US$40 will be (a) returned to the manufacturer, (b) given away to readers, or (c) donated.

Editorial reviews are separate and distinct from advertising on DeliciousBaby.com, and we never accept "advertorial" or pay-for-positive reviews.
