Luxembourg Gardens

The Luxembourg Gardens is the largest park in the city. It is also jam packed with activities for kids.

The Orsay Museum can be a surprisingly fun place to visit with kids. Have a child who loves ballerinas? Hightail it to the Degas exhibit. Toddlers tend to love sculptures, and the second floor sculpture exhibits are no exception (they're also less hushed than the rest of the museum). Kids also tend to enjoy the miniature stage sets that are part of the Opera Garnier models on the bottom floor. more

The Monet exhibit at the Orangerie is truely immersive, with immense paintings surrounding you on four walls in each of two rooms. This is a great way to help kids understand what Monet was trying to accomplish without dragging them through a huge museum (skip the rest of the collection). Best of all, they'll be able to run in the Tuileries Garden and playground before or after your visit. Lines can be long, we recommend buying tickets in advance. more

For children, perhaps the most wonderful parts of the Louvre are the foundations of the old château and the Egyptian wing. Start with the one or two sections you can't bear to miss and then head to these standbys. Older kids (those in the "gross is good stage") might enjoy a tour of the Paris sewage system where they can see (and smell) what happens to refuse in the "City of Light." It is a fascinating process, and the Paris Sewer Museum takes you through 500 yards of the city's 1300-plus miles of sewers. Seine River Cruise

This entire park was a wonderland for kids and adults! My son loved the sailboats that you push with a long stick across the pond. There were many playgrounds and large open spaces to run around in. On Sundays, it felt like all of the locals in Paris were at the park having a picnic on one of the lawns. It was one of the most memorable times we had in Paris. more
