Paris Sewer Tour, Paris

Address 93 Quai d'Orsay, 75007 Paris France Map, Tel 47.05.10.29 Call, Hours Sat-Wed 11am-5pm, Metro Pont de l'Alma Website

Older kids (those in the "gross is good stage") might enjoy a tour of the Paris sewage system where they can see (and smell) what happens to refuse in the "City of Light." It is a fascinating process, and the Paris Sewer Museum takes you through 500 yards of the city's 1300-plus miles of sewers. This tour is not suitable for young children who might have difficulty keeping their hands to themselves.

Are the sewer systems accessible from many points in Paris? Are they trouble free or require constant maintanence?
Are the tours in French? Is the smell bothersome?

In order to access the sewer system, you need to take one of the scheduled tours. English language tours are available, and you should expect some smell.

We toured the Paris Sewers last May. The gift shop sells a Paris sewer rat (stuffed of course). I wish I'd bought one while we were there. Is there any way I could order one and have it shipped to me in Arizona?

I have no idea about the shipping, but I love that they sell a stuffed sewer rat. I have a very specific image in my head of what a Parisian Sewer Rat stuffy might look like ;)
