Poilane, Paris
Address 8 rue du Cherche-Midi, 75006 Paris France Map, Hours 7:15am-8:15pm Mon-Sat Website
Poilane's earthy sourdough loaves can sell for up to $100 each in the US and Canada. Stop by the shop and see what the fuss is about for a lot less money. While you're there, try the apple tarts (the best I've ever tasted) and the raisin bread. Best of all, if they are not busy, they'll probably offer your children a sample of their excellent butter cookies. If you cannot make it to the bakery, Polaine bread is also available in many supermarkets including the one at Galeries Lafayette.
