Many things about this famous, unfinished temple will engage your children. The site and architecture, the intriguing back story, and the ongoing construction activity. Bring a good guidebook so that you can explain the history of the building and the symbolism of each facade if your kids have questions.

The towers are no longer open for climbing. Instead, wait in line to take an elevator up and then scale the last few stairs. The narrow, curved stairways are not suitable for strollers or early walkers.

There is a nice playground across the street from the exit.

Hi! I love your site. Thank you for having it. We are traveling to Barcelona with my 2 year old in May. I have a few questions that I was hoping you could help me with. For Sagrada Familia, it says children under 10 are free, but then it has a place to purchase a ticket for them. There, it charges me 5.8E. In your experience, will I need to buy a ticket for her? (Also, it says there is a "retiree" discount and we are traveling with my 62 and 70 year old parents. I can't find what "retiree" means and one thing I read said that retiree discounts are only for locals -- if you have any ideas about that, I'd appreciate it). Also, we plan to visit Montjuic, Montserrat and Tibidabo. I understand there are funiculars or cable cars to reach these places -- does that create problems for the stroller? Thanks in advance for any advice that you can share!!

I'm so sorry not to be able to help with these questions. The ticketing rules sometimes change, so our experience wouldn't be a good guideline. The best thing to do would be to send email to the venue directly.

To use the Funiculars, you'll have to carry the stroller up/down some stairs, but other than that it is just fine.

    Good luck!
