One of our favorite ways to stay with the kids is in a vacation rental instead of a hotel. Everyone's life is made easier because we get more space, a washing machine, and a small kitchen.
This vacation apartment rental company has several buildings in madrid with different apartment configurations. This location, close to Retiro Park, has one and two bedroom units, each with a kitchen and living room as well as some of the conveniences of a hotel (like a 24 hour reception and room service)

We stayed here and it was a great location 'behind' the Prado. Decor is somewhat dated though and beds were not too comfy. But we loved having the extra room with a jetlagged 18 month old.
