We found all of the Heritage Ireland sites we visited well maintained with excellent visitor centers presenting history in an informative yet entertaining manner, suitable for all ages. Keep in mind, we were traveling with a toddler boy, a child with special needs, and a teenager -- we kept everyone happy along the way. Sometimes that meant foregoing the "boring movie about history" or spending an inordinate amount of time climbing up and down ancient steps to run off some energy. Sometimes, Mom and Dad took turns taking in the history of a site while the other walked the grounds outside. Ireland is a beautiful country so being outside on the grounds isn't a hardship, and people are generally very friendly toward family groups.
