This is absolutely magical for a family to do together. Purchase tickets at least a couple of months in advance because the Polar Express is extremely popular, especially right before Christmas. Wear pajamas and bring a coat (Polar Express runs November thru January and is at high elevation so you can find yourself in the snow) and an umbrella - we got rained on one year. It's also a good idea to arrive early to find a parking spot.
