Head to Angelo if you're in search of designer clothing for your young child. This small store, tucked away in the Sheraton Waikiki features brands like small paul, Juicy, and Diesel. more

This small shop carries a great selection of well made Hawaiian inspired children's clothing. The batik prints you'll see here use softer colors (and softer fabrics) than the the clothing in souvenir shops. You'll also find a nice selection of swimwear (including baby swimwear with built-in swim diapers). If you're so inclined, there are matching grown-up outfits. more

Crack Seed Center

It's salty, or sour, or both. It's savory and sometimes strangely flavored. Perhaps it's not really for kids, but you should try at least one kind of "Crack Seed" while you are in Hawaii. This shop, with it's huge jars full of different preserved fruits, fish and seeds is a good place to choose what you'd like to try. Don't worry, there are a few candy choices for the kids too. more

International Market Place

If you are on the lookout for cheap souvenirs, the International Marketplace is a great place to stop. It's filled with shops and carts selling lei, hula dolls, refrigerator magnets and more. Kids will love the koi pond underneath the center's enormous banyan tree. Check the center's website for details on the (almost) nightly musical performances. more

It might seem odd that I'm recommending an upscale mall with kids, but if your hotel does not have a children's program, this is a great place to head for quality Uke lessons, lei making, hula dancing and more. The center itself is fun to wander through, and this is a good place to find high quality Hawaiian wear for children or other souvenirs. more

Thinker Toys

If you need something for your child to play with on the plane ride home, Thinker Toys, inside the Ala Moana mall, is a good choice. The shop specializes in high-end educational and wooden toys. What's fun here is that you'll see more Japanese influenced toys than you would in the continental us. more
