Fox and Obel, Chicago's premiere food market, is the perfect place to pick up a picnic lunch. In the cafe you'll find cold and hot sandwiches, salads and pizza. You can pick up a variety of sides in the market too.

Fox and Obel is the perfect place to pick up a picnic lunch? I guess if you don't plan on saving for baby's college. It has got to be the most over-priced food shop in the entire city. While I appreciate your research on this blog, this kind of recommendation makes me question your common sense.

Bill,
You are right that Fox and Obel is an upscale market. I think that a travel budget is a very personal thing, as is a blog.
I enjoy eating well when we travel, and I don't mind splurging on some really great cheese or sliced meats for a picnic. I thought Fox and Obel was great for that! For most of those items, the cost of a picnic would still be cheaper than lunch for the 5 of us in a moderately priced restaurant.
It sounds like you would choose differently, and that's great too.

We have a visit to Chicago coming in just a few weeks I think we'll swing by. This is a great suggestion for us because we have a 16 month old and a 2 month old. Sit down at lunch just isn't a great option.
