The Idea Factory is a wonderful kids' hands-on area, but our children also liked the U-505 submarine, the Pioneer Zephyr train, the farm exhibit, the model railroad, and more. There's kid-friendly food in the cafe area. This is a must-see for us each time we're in Chicago.
