This efficient, order at the counter, Mexican restaurant has exactly the mix of good food and casual atmosphere that we look for when we dine with the kids. A lamb taco melted in my mouth, while my daughter devoured a mahi-mahi fish taco with fresh avocado and cilantro-lime rice. Fresh watermelon juice was particularly refreshing after a long, hot, day of sightseeing. Seating on the covered patio is pleasant in the evenings, but there is also a drive through window if you prefer to take your food back to your hotel room or out for a picnic. more

Excellent Indian dishes, like saag paneer (sauteed spinach with homemade cheese) and tandoori chicken (chicken cooked in a traditional tandoor oven) are delicately spiced and flavorful without being hot. We loved the subtly flavored curries too. What really makes India Palace a winner for families, though, is the excellent lunch buffet where even choosy eaters can find something to eat, and quick service gets you through the meal before anyone has a melt-down. Highchairs are available. more

This crowded restaurant is busy for a reason. The Shed serves local New Mexican food prepared in the traditional way. From blue corn enchiladas to fresh Guacamole, everything is simply prepared and delicious. On our visit, Carne Adovada, a dish made of slow roasted pork pieces, was tender and flavorful without being overly spicy. Burgers are also available if you have already had your fill of New Mexican food. The shed has been recognized by Gourmet Magazine, the James Beard Foundation and others for their excellent traditional food more
The Cowgirl has BBQ, seafood, and an extensive vegetarian menu. Ask to be seated next to the playground, and kids get to enjoy a play area that's open to the sun on temperate days, enclosed when it's cold or wet. There are chalk boards with a supply of colored chalk, a couple of play structures to climb on and slide down, a little beanbag toss, all on a square of artificial turf good for running, chasing, and turning somersaults. more
