This popular playground also has a wetland trail that is short enough for young kids to enjoy without getting worn out. There are also covered picnic tables and an open grassy area. more
Kit Carson Memorial State Park

Even if your kids aren't old enough to be interested in visiting the grave of Kit Carson (his grave is marked with a spiked wrought-iron fence), they'll appreciate this centrally located playground complete with swings, slides, and grass. more

When the kids are in need of a little bit of quiet time, and a cuddle from mom and dad, the Public Library is a great place to stop in and read a few books. Taos Library is no exception and also hosts regularly scheduled story-times in it's "Children's Library." Toddler craft and storytime is every Thursday at 10:30 am. more
Taos Youth and Family Center

The Taos community center is a great (and low cost) place to let the kids be active, even when the weather isn't comfortable outside. The community center includes a skate park, ice skating, a swimming pool, and more. There's also a climbing structure outside. more

We have such wonderful independent toy stores in our home town that I'm difficult to impress when we travel, but Twirl knocked my socks off. The outdoor playspace was so engaging that I never did convince my daughter to go into the toy store with me. Instead, she played in a kid-sized stream, climbed and bounced on a huge climbing structure, played in a treehouse, dug in the sand and banged on a huge xylophone. more
