We visited San Antonio at Christmas time (after Christmas and before Jan 1) and the river is lit with christmas lights. We took this boat tour at dusk with 6 little kids and it was great. We were able to enjoy the lights the kids thought the boat ride was fun. it was a little long but we brought snacks so that saved us at the end. The tour boat driver was very interesting and my 3 YO old learned a valuable lesson from him - if you drink too much beer, you can fall in the river. Be aware that they drain the river once a year in January for cleaning/maintenance. They have a Mud Festival during that time which sounds like a lot of fun to the mom of 2 little boys!
