Preparing for a Trip to Seattle
Here is a list of my favorite books, maps, and resources for planning a trip to Seattle with kids
Plan to wear layers as a day can go from sunny to rainy and back to sunny again. I particularly like Hatley Rain Boots for their durability and a packable kids rain jacket that you can stow in a daypack when it's not in use.
Seattle Family Discounts
I like the Seattle Tour Saver coupon book if you will be doing higher end activities. At $60, it isn't cheap, but if you intend to take a seaplane ride, a boat tour, or stay in one of the listed hotels, this can be an incredible value.
A Seattle City Pass lets you Visit 6 Seattle attractions for just $69.00 CityPass price - $121.20 value
Seattle's Tourism Website sometimes has discount tickets for popular attractions.
Getting to and from SeaTac Airport with Kids
The easiest way to get downtown from the airport is on the Seattle Light Rail. Trains depart the station every 10 minutes, and arrive at two downtown stations - Westlake Center and University Station. Kids ride without carseats on the train, meaning that you'll have less to lug along on your trip. If you have a lot of luggage, you might consider sending one parent in a taxi with the luggage while the other takes the train with the kids.
