Do you want to see my budget?

The cost of trips seems to be a huge mystery, with everybody paying different prices for different hotels and airfares for the same routes varying widely too. Sometimes as a reader, it can be hard to get a sense of how much a trip would cost if you were to do it yourself. So I'm curious, do you want me to dish? Should I post the budget for our recent trip to New Mexico? Or is that a boring detail you are glad I usually skip?

What a great idea! I would love to know as it would help me in figuring out a budget for our trip next summer.

Girl, dish. I am always interested in costs for things, because I like to go lots of places and get the best bang for my buck. (I'd rather visit two places I really want to go on a budget than splurge on only one.)

P.S. I used alot of your tips (and your trip report) on our recent trip to Portland, Oregon. I had a great time, and so did my 1-year-old. Thanks!

Its always nice to have an idea about how much a trip costs, especially when travelling with little ones.

Yes, please share. I think it might encourage more people to travel with their children if they can anticipate the costs.

Are you kidding? This should be a must-tell, tell-all! Thanks so much for bringing this topic up. I never know how to bring up the money thing.

    Yes, Yes, Yes!

I hate it when I read travel articles and the writers don't give any idea how much hotels/restaurants/tours cost. And please do let us know if you got a special bargain price, and if so, how you got it! Over the years, I've learned to check both online and via phone, and always always always ask "Is that the best price?" to be sure there wasn't some special deal that beat out, for instance, the AAA rate. I'm sure you have more tricks than I do, and I'd love to read about them in your blog.

I think this is a good idea. I'm not much of a budget traveler myself - so I would be curious to see how I compare with others.

Yes, I would love to know what it cost! As my son gets older I would love to take more short trips in the US but of course budgeting for it is a concern for me and my husband.

This is great feedback! I'll spill ;)

It will take me a couple of days to pull together a good post that shares our budget along with my tips & my thinking about where we splurged and where we economized...

If there is anything else you think I should cover, please let me know with a comment.
