If you are here at BlogHer, be sure to ask me for one of my cool handouts on How to keep your child busy on a plane. In addition to my tips, you'll also get a pack of Wikki Stix, generously provided by the Wikki Stix Company. They look simple, but my kids love the open ended, creative play that Wikki Stix let them engage in, and I love the fact that there are no small pieces to get lost under the airplane seat and no mess to clean up! Each pack comes with an activity sheet to help you get started, but the possibilities are endless.

So what are these exactly? I'm so curious. Anything to keep my daughter busy!!!

This is the most *amazing* toy! We received a small sample of Wikki Stix in lieu of crayons at a PF Changs, and DD (2 1/2+) was absolutely captivated. We did get her to eat, but she was so excited to take her new flexible "toy" home, and played with the fairly small sample of the stix quite a bit in the following days. No mess, and an infinite number of ways to position and reposition. Already stocked up for our upcoming flights. This is the type of cool 'toy' that might be transplated to an office environment for brainstorming meetings, etc.

Very cool! What ages do these work for?

These really were a huge hit! I heard from so many moms who said "my kids love these," but what was more fun was giving them to moms who had kids in tow and watching what their kids did with them.

An adorable little 2 year old walked by me later in the day with a multi-colored wiki-necklace, and some kids made figures or had other ideas.

The wiki sticks are marked ages 3 and up, but I personally let my 2 1/2 year old play with them with supervision.

Agree about age-indications, one of those use your own judgment products. Our daughter is just over 2 1/2 and I don't see any really big issues as long as an adult is there (as would the case in a plane, for example). I would have introduced on a flight at 2 1/4 if I had been aware of them then...
