Where Are You Going This Winter?

Kyoto in Winter
Kyoto in Winter

Even though it feels like we've hardly unpacked from our trip to Hawaii, I'm in the process of narrowing down destinations for a trip in December. There are tons of places I'd love to revisit with the kids, including Paris, New York, Whistler and Kyoto, but I'm curious about what other people are doing. Are you planning a winter trip? Where are you planning to go?

That's a great picture! Japanese traditional architecture with snow - lovely!

We are going to go somewhere we don't have to fly. Thinking Victoria via the Clipper or even Mt Rainier.

    Lovely photo!

We have exciting fall and winter travel planned this year. Of course we are on a non-stop family world tour for the last 5 years, so we always have travel planned. ;)

This winter we will be based on Penang, Malaysia so looking forward to the great food, tropical weather, learning Mandarin and lots of short explorations around Asia.

On the way to Asia from Spain, we will stop in London, NYC, SF, Hawaii, Bora Bora, Auckland, Sydney and Singapore...so excited about those this fall.

Lots of new things and returning to some old faves. 4 days until take off...yikes! ;)

I would KILL to do Kyoto in the winter. That photo teases me even further! Very beautiful.

This winter, I'll be planning a trip to my homeland. Funny that I'm calling it my homeland, since I've never been there before!

At any rate, I'm hoping to venture to the Philippines with my father to meet my extended family. I'm very much looking forward to it.

Hopefully, while I am there I will be able to catch a cheap flight to Japan, so that I can finally see Kyoto with my own two eyes....AND CAMERA!

    Happy travels!

    Debbie -

Thanks to the San Antonio Visitor's Bureau and Delicious Baby, we are headed to San Antonio to use our vacation prize! Can't wait to visit Sea World and the River Walk during the holiday season.

    Great picture!

My husband is planning a trip to the north of Scotland for us this winter. It's for my birthday so the location is a secret but I'm looking forward to it! Skye (one of the Scottish Islands) is a winter trip we made a few years ago and it was absolutely gorgeous. Crisp cold weather outside and a log fire inside, perfect.

3 trips planned: one in October, one in November and one in December. All trips will be at Karisma hotels in the Riviera Maya. http://www.karismahotels.com/

We're going to Arizona to visit my in-laws (traveling with my 2.5 yr old daughter and my son who will be 6 months then) and also to Cabo San Lucas, MX for our annual winter vacation. It's boring and laid back and exactly what we want. :)

We plan on Penang Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, and Siem Reap Cambodia, and we can't wait

We might do a cabin share at Tahoe (South Shore) this winter, which would be a first and a lot of fun. I usually travel a lot on assignment during cold months, but my Frommer's deadlines just got bumped way up to December so looks like I'll do a whole lot of staying in California this time 'round.

We're heading to Phoenix later this month (I've been using your city guide--thanks!) and hoping to get to Florida in January or February. Kind of boring, but I get desperate for sunshine in the winter months when all we see in Indiana is cold gray skies.

We'll be headed to New York briefly in November for some Thanksgiving parade action, then the band will do a tour in December through New Mexico, Arizona and California. After a nice staycation break in January (ah! a month at home. How delectable!) We'll be headed back to the East Coast in February.
