Villa Borghese Park, Rome

This 148-acre park is the second largest in Rome, and one of the few green spaces easily accessible from the city center. Filled with statues and fountains, the park also includes a merry-go-round, a mini train, a zoo, a puppet theatre, and a small lake with swans and boats. Our favorite way to visit the park is to rent a multi-person bicycle (seating as many as six people) from one of the stands stationed throughout the park.

Don’t skip the excellent Galleria Borghese museum (reservations must be made in advance), which is so richly decorated that even the most museum-averse kids will be drawn in. Note that all bags, purses, etc must be checked before entering the gallery.

Thanks a lot for these helpful and encouraging tips.

Especially about the 6-seater bikes in Villa Borghese park. It will be perfect for our family and we're looking forward to the trip.
