Photo Friday: Museu d'Art Contemporani With Kids

When we took the kids to Barcelona last year, Modern Art was on our agenda. Too bad we didn't consult with the kids. By the time we visited our third museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, they were just about done. My husband and I took turns wheeling and chasing the two kids (then 2 1/2 and 1) up and down the huge sunlit ramps that connect the floors while the other parent visited the museum. It wasn't exactly the contemplative museum visit of our pre-kid days, but at least everyone had a good time.

This is the first time I add a travel photo here. Barcelona inspires me. For anyone looking for a wonderful country to visit with children, Spain is it! Our daughter, then 3.5, loved every moment of it. We spent three weeks on La Costa Brava and in Barcelona. More pictures here:

Modern Art can be, um, challenging in the first place :)

Sounds pretty good to me that the kids made it through three museums!

Yes, non-children's-museums are a little different with kids, aren't they?

My entry this week has to do with not admitting winter is on its way. And if you care to see how my blog started (it's really a very nice story), click over to my Once Upon a Time post from yesterday.

I often wonder what people with small children did in public spaces before the widespread advent of ramps. I've had more than on afternoon like this myself, most recently at the Centre Pompidou, although there the children just wanted to ride the escalators.

Ohhh, I want to see Meg's post but it's not linked up.

And why can't I see anyone else's comments? It says there are 5 but I don't see any of them.

Must not be my day today!

we had a great time with our kids at the Tate Modern in London last March. Granted, we did make it all around the museum, and their favorite part was exploring the giant crack down the middle of the main hall, but for us, modern art was very accessible and open to much interpretation and discussion!

Great pics, I look forward to participating when I can get my act together :-)

Museums with kids, gets better each year! Being in Barcelona a few days ago, Granada this morning and Marbella tonight, I am enjoying this Spanish theme here by many. We are so happy that we are back for our third winter as we have fallen deeply in love with Spain and yes indeed, it is a wonderful place for children as young and old are respected in a way not seen in many countries.

I actually have a couple of pictures of Spain in my post below the one of Bordeaux, wonder if anyone will guess which ones?

Hi! Just discovered your little gem of a site! I've been such a chicken . . . before my kids were born I traveled to Europe or Quebec every year. My oldest is now 6 and I haven't left the country since I was pregnant. The travel bug is about driving me crazy. It's time to just buy a ticket and go. I'm adding you to my blogroll at foreignlanguagefun.com
Thanks for all of your advice and gorgeous photos (love you little bumblebee in front of the Eiffel Tower BTW).
