There is sooooo much to do and see! It's an incredibly hands-on experience, with lots of physical activities to get your little ones (2 - 10 years old) moving. Very stroller-friendly, too. The newest exhibit, "How People Make Things", which is based on those Mr. Roger's video shorts; looks so fun, I can't wait to get there. At just $11.75 per person (kids under 2 are free)it's very affordable. My number one tip? Forget those trendy duds - dress your kiddos in comfy play-clothes, and sneakers are a must. They will be playing their little hearts out, I promise! more

Storyville -- Baltimore County Library

The public library in Baltimore County has two fabulous indoor areas for small children to play. The areas are beautifully designed and everything is kid accessible. For example, there is a tree house, kitchen, theater, and a complete shopping area with kid-sized baskets, plastic bread, fish, canned goods, fruit and vegetables, and a check-out area with cash registers. The librarians place book choices throughout that are perfectly aligned with the activity, for example truck and train stories near thos areas. Perfect for birth to five as their is a separate area for infants to do floor time safely. more

Very family friendly. We like this zoo because the trails guide you where you need to go. It's not too big/small just the perfect size for a day trip. The kids love seeing the animals, which are always out and about. And they have a small eatery/rides and petting zoo area. Love spending the day at The Maryland Zoo. more

Urban Pirates

Address S Ann St & Thames St, Baltimore, MD 21231 Map, Tel 410-327-8378 Call, Website

Inner Harbor/Fells Point/Baltimore is host to Urban Pirates, an hour long cruise around the harbor in a pirate boat, the Fearless. We dressed up like pirates, learned pirate vocabulary, songs, dances and rope knots, and best of all, we fought off dragons and other scalliwags who were trying to steal our booty by spraying them with water cannons! Clean, family fun without any piratical violence. The Ann Street Pier is located at the end of Ann Street, just steps from Thames Street which runs along the water's edge in Fell's Point. My number one tip would be to look for a coupon in one of Baltimore's free papers aimed at kids, or to check out the website for specials. And be prepared to pay the 10% Baltimore amusement tax! more

Walters Art Gallery

Address 600 N. Charles ST Map,

A great hands-on museum at a nice scale for kids with lots of family-oriented activities and materials. Kids will especially like the Walters' mummies and medieval armor! On weekends, stop by an ArtCart where kids can try on a costume, pick up a puzzle, borrow an art book to peruse in the museum or even a drawing kit. The Walters has great Family Guides, both written and audio, to make your tour more interesting for kids. There's even a Wondrous Journeys Passport you can pick up at the information desk that sends kids on a scavenger hunt through the museum. more
