What's in My Airplane Busy Bag?
I took this photo of our airplane busy bag before flying down to Orange County a few weeks ago. I build a fresh busy bag before each trip based on what the kids are interested in at the moment.
Between kids, and luggage, and snacks, there is always a lot to carry, so I try to keep the busy bag compact, and with this one I really succeeded. It doesn't look like much, but believe it or not, there was enough to do here to keep E and D busy for both the outbound and return flights!
Here's what's inside (there are two of almost everything, one for each child)
- Shinkansen coloring books (picked up at our local Asian supermarket)
- Little Dover Activity Books (a steal at just $1.50 each)
- A selection of Playmobil figures that can be played with individually, and then combined.
- Wooden "dolls" with stands and pens for coloring (under $1 at Michael's)
- Travel sized tangrams
- Pippi Longstocking (it's nice that both of the "big kids" are finally interested in chapter books)
- Sticker sheets
- Mini puzzles (from Target dollar area)
- Rattle for the baby (he really doesn't need much yet)
Check back on Monday when I'll post some of my guidelines for building a travel busy bag.

I have to try some of those tangrams! My airplane bag also includes a few toy trains and cars and a MagnaDoodle, which is the only thing the boys are really good at sharing.
