Giveaway - CARES Airplane Harness from Kids Fly Safe

I'm delighted to have a product for our giveaway this week that we own and use ourselves when we travel.

Kids Fly Safe was kind enough to send me a CARES Airplane Seat Harness. The harness is FAA approved, easy to set up, weighs only a pound, and fits in a 6" stuff sack. It has made getting through the airport much easier than it was in the days when we brought a car seat. The harness is appropriate for children who are old enough to ride in a car forward facing and weigh over 22 pounds. Best of all, we know that our son is seated safely and he likes having a little more space than his car seat would allow.

This Giveaway is now closed. To learn about new giveaways as they become available, please  Subscribe to our feed

I will be giving this CARES harness away to one lucky reader. If you'd like a chance to win, leave us a comment before Midnight PST on Monday May 5 and tell us what (besides giveaways) you'd like to see more of on DelicousBaby.com. This looks so useful, especially as I'm packing for a trip from Mozambique to Seattle tomorrow!

I love personal stories - heartwarming or terror stories are the best!

Contests are great, but I also would love more hints on guiding behavior in traveling children...

we haven't done much traveling since we had our second child and I must admit I am daunted at the prospect. Two carseats, two stubborn kids, two tired parents...

We would love to travel to Spain this October, so this CARES harness would be great to have!

I like seeing all the different destinations, and the ideas on what to do geared towards family. So even more destinations would be great :)

I'm new to the site, but love to travel, and love getting tips from experienced travelers. I'm specifically interested in tips and information on international travel, so I'd like to see more of that.

    Thanks!

As a new reader, I don't really have any suggestions yet. I have 4 kids under 5 so I don't do alot (ANY) flying travel with them all yet, but my husband has big plans for the future. I would like more suggestions, hints, etc for travel in the car with young ones. (our trips consist of visiting grandparents on a semi-regular basis)

I'd like to see some info on traveling while pregnant!

  7. megan on April 28, 2008 at 11:59 a.m.

hi Debbie! Good work. I particularly like the nuts-and-bolts information - examples: your recent posts about airplane water, surviving flight delays, airline policies. I guess when I'm researching resources in a location I don't know, I'll be headed straight to your city guides. Sadly, lately, it's just been visits to the in-laws and road trips around the state. Thanks!

  8. Elizabeth on April 28, 2008 at 12:06 p.m.

As Edden gets older, a CARES harness is looking more and more useful. I would love to have one!

I would also enjoy seeing more locations covered. I love reading about your trips. I suppose that would mean more travel for you? Or maybe more guest features from other widely-traveling families?

  9. Amy on April 28, 2008 at 1:39 p.m.

    Great blog!

I'd love to see more tips on recommended kid-friendly restaurants in various destinations--that are also places adults would want to eat at.

  10. Aislinn on April 29, 2008 at 9:22 a.m.

Hello - I am a new reader. I just came upon your blog while looking for information regarding renting carseats from rental car companies as we are traveling in May and questioning whether or not we should bring our own. Your site looks great and I am excited to poke around a bit and see what I find.

  11. Patti on April 29, 2008 at 11:55 a.m.

Are you kidding me, your site is perfect. It makes me want to pack up the kids and take them to Paris for a beautiful photo like you have of your daughter! I really think your site is fanastic and I've sent this link to all my friends with babies who live far away...now they have to come visit me, this site makes it feel possible to fly with them! (Me on the other hand, I'm still a chicken...)

  12. Stacy on April 29, 2008 at 11:59 a.m.

I would love more locations listed. We love to travel but since having a child a few months ago it seems like so much more research is needed before we travel next.

  13. Anne on April 29, 2008 at 12:14 p.m.

This is a great site. I love the reviews of travel items. I'd be interested in a discussion of baby carriers.

  14. Chris on April 29, 2008 at 12:17 p.m.

When we take my daughter to San Diego next January this will be just right. In terms of things to see, is it possible to get similar styled travel guides from other readers? I know this is your site and wouldn't want to intrude, but if you found it feasible I'm sure many would benefit.

  15. Laura on April 29, 2008 at 12:29 p.m.

I think it would be fun to see more of 'featured cities', like you did with seattle. Feature a different US city each month, and what family-friendly things there are to do in the town over a 4-5 day period. Maybe have a top 3 'dont miss', if someone is only going to be there for a weekend. Thanks!!

  16. Bree on April 29, 2008 at 12:46 p.m.

I'd love to see more eco-friendly baby things!!

  17. Katie on April 29, 2008 at 1:21 p.m.

I am also a new reader, so I am not sure what your site is all about yet. But I am ready to dig in! We've got some traveling coming up soon, also, so I am sure your blog will come in handy.

What a great giveaway! We're hoping to fly to Cleveland at the end of May and this would come in so handy.

Wait, did I just say "We're hoping to fly to Cleveland"? I'd love to read more about making the most of your trips with kids, even if the destination isn't the most glamorous!

If you have any tips on preventing motion sickness when traveling in cars and airplanes with a toddler (in particular one who will not speak English!), I'd love to know. Maybe I just overlooked it here? Anyway...I'd love the Airplane Safety Belt because we are hoping to be flying with our little one soon...We are adopting a toddler from Russia...

We are traveling to France this summer to visit family with our then-17-month old, and I have been cyber-stalking these because I could really use it but can't afford it. I am a new reader to your site, but a frequent business traveler, and I enjoy bringing my daughter with me when possible, so I can use any tips that you have for restaurants and activities in any cities you have visited! Also, any general traveling tips with toddlers are appreciated. Thanks for a great contest!

My partner is traveling by herself cross-country with our 18 month old son so this would be a godsend. Any tips on traveling with toddlers without packing the kitchen sink and more would be appreciated in this age of one-checked bag only.

  24. Helda on April 29, 2008 at 5:34 p.m.

Would love the harness....as you say it would definitely make the cross airport marathon much easier.

I very much enjoy your tips and pointers. Would like to read more about how you go about finding kid friendly information when you do your initial research on cities.

  25. Michele on April 29, 2008 at 5:39 p.m.

We'd love to see more reviews of baby products - there are just so many products out there today and we definitely don't have enough money to try them all. :) But we've read all your traveling tips and have taken notes - thank you!! We would also love to win this as we are embarking on a trip abroad with our preschooler and our toddler....yes, it'll take more than a day to get there. Phooey! Anyhow, we've heard great things about the CARES harness and would love to carry this instead of her jigundo carseat. :)

This is amazing... Great idea... i have been in the travel industry for 13 years now, and work for the airlines for 10, and we just had little ones... and we travel quite a bit, and ofcourse now we wonder how uncomfortable it's gonna be with twins and traveling with 2 car seats... lol.. but this is great.

I agree, travel tips for keeping toddlers happy. We have a long trip abroad planned this summer and the plane ride is scaring me.

  33. Cathy on April 29, 2008 at 9:04 p.m.

I was thinking about this the other day, since we plan to fly next year with our preschooler and toddler. How on earth would we lug two car seats through the airport?! This would certainly help solve that problem! Thanks for the chance to win!

I am new to your blog so I dont really have any suggestions yet. We live in Mexico City so we travel a lot to Florida to visit family. I have seen great things about this product and think it would help a lot. I have a 3 year old and a baby on the way. One less thing to carry (bulky car seat) always makes traveling easier!

I would love to see more stories. People sharing what it was like traveling abroad with their baby, strategies, etc.

  40. Lil Foot's Mommy on April 30, 2008 at 8:54 a.m.

I'm thinking this would be a great thing to have for our very very very long trip to Hawaii in September.

And here's what I'd like to ask you...as I mentioned we have a trip to Hawaii coming up in September. My husband and I will be taking our daughter who at the time will be 20 months old. I am trying to make plane reservations and I'm undecided whether we should bite the bullet and buy a separate ticket for my daughter so that she is guaranteed to have her own seat or just use the "under 2 years of age rule" to our advantage and hope that there are 3 seats together on the plane. She's already so mobile which would make this harness so useful, but another ticket is so much more money. What's been your experience? By September I would think all the schools would be back in session and we'll probably find 3 seats together but who knows?

  41. Heather on April 30, 2008 at 9:10 a.m.

Count me in! I'd appreciate more cities being added to the destination guides.

This looks very useful! My daughter is only 9 months old, but has already been to 5 countries - we love to travel, and we're not about to give that up :-)

I think maybe something like a reader poll about which airports are kid-friendly (like Amsterdam Schiphol has a great kid area in its international terminal) would be useful - and I love tips about what to do with kids in different places.

  55. Sandra on April 30, 2008 at 6:06 p.m.

I have always wanted one of these harnesses for my DS. We have been doing a lot more travelling and I would have better peace of mind knowing he was secured. As for recommendations: your site is very comprehensive. I think keeping lists or reviews of particular hotels/ venues that are child friendly ,have play areas for kids etc. Perhaps readers could submit their own experiences to the site.

  56. Reiza on April 30, 2008 at 6:41 p.m.

Since you nixed the more giveaways idea, I'd say I'd like to see even more travel tips. I'm always looking for inside tips from other parents.

I'm inspired to get my toddler across the pond to meet the rest of his family. It would be great not to lug his carseat around!

  60. Emily DiPetrillo on April 30, 2008 at 8:21 p.m.

I would love to see more about travelling with multiple children - especially twins or triplets.

    Thanks!

I LOVE this site and have recommended it to all the girls in the playgroup (and Betsy who responded above). I got back from a trip to Knoxville a couple of weeks ago and still carry around blue painters tape in my diaper bag! I think your site is well laid out and information is easy to find. I like knowing where the kid friendly spots are while traveling. And any more tips you have on keeping toddlers occupied on long flights is always appreciated.

Thanks for all the hard work!

  62. Kristin on May 1, 2008 at 5 a.m.

I would love to see specific suggestions for general travel needs- how to plan a beach vacation (and have fun on it), how to handle destination weddings, etc. Also, "best of" tips are always appreciated - best destinations in each state with kids? We have two and one more coming in July, and I am terrified at the thought of travelling with three! Your site definitely motivates me to set my fears aside and head somewhere! Thanks and keep up the good work!

I just found this site and have only had time to look at a few things in addition to other people's comments. Traveling is hard enough alone so tips and reminders are always helpful to calm anxiety. You have a good variety of topics. I was just in Seattle visiting a friend and her 11 month old last week, and I was excited to share some things with her that I learned from your site! She's now using deliciousbaby.com as a resource for fun things to do at home with her little boy.

I would love more ideas on how to make getting around/through the airport and security easier! I always feel like such a klutz when I'm juggling bags, the baby, the stroller, etc., and wonder if there are any little things other people do to make it go more smoothly.

I'm excited to now subscribe to your blog! I would love to see tips on money saving while traveling with kids.

This would be great to have for flying, but what I'd find most useful would be more tips for car travel, as we do more of that than flying. Thanks for the giveaway!

This is a GREAT site—I wish I had known about it last year when we took our 3-year-old on her first plane ride (we could have used a packing list!)

What I'd like to see more of is photos of kids on their travel adventures.

I'd love more advice on parenting in the toddler years!

The harness looks great-it would be wonderful to use it on my trip to italy with my 18 month old this summer!

I'm looking forward to the article on finding great eats with the kids in tow.

This is a great giveaway! It would be great timing for my upcoming flight with my 1 1/2 year old in July. I don't have any suggestions for your site - keep up the good work!

I'm putting in for my chance to win! You have SO much great info on the blog about travel. I think I'd like to read more stories about your travels. Share the good bad and ugly with us! :)

We live several states away from the rest of our family so our 18 month old daughter has already had 8 trips involving flights (although no international travel yet). I love the advice you have on your site and appreciate your reviews of travel gear. Please continue to offer your great tips.

I just found this website. It is added to my must-read list! We are just beginning our long distance travels and look at flying in the next year with our 2 1/2 and 4 1/2 year old daugthers.

Any tips on how to make layover changes easier with youngsters who don't always want to do what they are told when cranky would be fantastic. Perhaps give tips for some of the major connecting airports in the US.

    HI there,

we'll be flying the week before Easter. If you loaned us the harness, I could write a detailed review (perhaps people would like to read that). ;)

Other than that, I would love to hear tips on how to keep the travel/suitcase simple packing only the most necessary items - keep up the good work.

I'm glad I came across your site! My wife and I love to travel with our 18 month old son and we are going to Istanbul this summer. A harness like this would be just perfect for our boy.

Additional discussions of tips and tricks for travel and the best gear would be great.

    Thanks for a great resource!
