Giveaway: $150 Gift Certificate to LittleJetSet.com
We travel frequently enough that I'm always on the lookout for new and engaging travel toys, and travel toy ideas is are of the most common searches on DeliciousBaby. That's why I'm excited to announce today's giveaway, a gift certificate for $150 from Little Jet Set an online store entirely devoted to products that make traveling with kids easy.
This Giveaway is now closed. To learn about new giveaways as they become available, please Subscribe to our feed
Selecting the perfect toy for a road trip or long flight isn't always easy. For me, a great travel toy is compact. It isn't so precious that losing it would destroy the trip, and it doesn't have a lot of small pieces that can get dropped on the floor. The very best toys can be played with in lots of different ways. At Little Jet Set I was excited to see some of our favorites, including some great activity books by Chicken Socks and an adorable Day at the Zoo Play Scene Sticker Set. But what I'm really coveting is the adorable backpacks by Agatha Ruiz de la Prada. I know I'm not allowed to win, but would it be wrong for me to go over and order a few items for my kids before the contest is over?
How To EnterI will be giving the $150 Gift Certificate for LittleJetSet.com away to one lucky reader. If you'd like a chance to win, leave us a comment before 11:59PM PST on Monday Oct 6 2008 and tell what your favorite travel toy is. Haven't been anywhere? Look through the catalog at Little Jet Set and choose your favorite.
If you win and wish to be contacted by email, please include your email address in the comment form (your email isn't shared with anyone). Otherwise, you must check back here to see if you have won.
How to Get More Chances to WinFor each complete recommendation you add to our city guides, you will be given one additional entry. It takes only a few minutes, and it is a great way to share your favorite kids activities, restaurants, and hotels with other parents.
- Click Add Your Favorite on the bottom of any restaurant, hotel or activity section of a city guide. (or just Click Here)
- Fill in a short form asking for information about your recommendation (e.g. name, address, web url, and why you like it)
- Click "Save"
- Next you will see a short form that asks you to register for an account. You need to register so that we know who you are and can give you an additional contest entry.
- Registration is fast and simple, and asks few questions. We promise that we will not publish, sell, or spam your email address.
- Click on "Your Account" in the upper right hand corner of the page to add a picture and other profile information
- You can continue to add more recommendations, and you will be given one additional contest entry for each complete recommendation.
You can even add cities that we don't currently cover, just type in a new city name when you add a listing.
It takes just a few minutes to add a recommendation to our City Guides. I hope you'll give it a try!

I love the World Traveler Dress Up Doll by Mudpuppy at Little Jet Set. There are so many award winning toys and that's just one of them there but I think it's something my daughter could use both at home and on-the-go.

Color Wonder sets are perfect for travel. The little ones think they're coloring, but the markers can't mess up anything besides the special paper they're designed for.

We just got back from a trip with our 11 month old and a 8" ball was a lot of fun for her in the hotel. She would throw and chase it and we can kick it back and forth with her. Of the toys we brought, she played with that one the most.
Christina W. on September 29, 2008 at 8:14 a.m.
Honestly? The best all around travel "toy" we've found are those triangular crayons. No rolling! But from little jet set, I gotta say - my current fave is the Play Scene Sticker Sets by Mudpuppy. They look so fun!

Europa on September 30, 2008 at 10:30 a.m.
When my son was little we brought him lots of little things to finger on. And books, especially one that we'd been reading a lot so he'd be calm just by hearing the words. Now we don't go anywhere without crayons and his favourite picture books. I loved the idea someone had about those triangular ones not rolling away!
I always try and keep things new and bring one thing a time out (and away so for long trips it can be brought in new again if needed). I heard about someone making a special bag for their child with lots of pockets to explore and find things in, I've wanted one of those.

Our younger grandchildren are a 2 hour drive away and may be moving to a 4 hour drive. My husband and I purchased the animal neck pillows from Little Jet Set (they are so adorable and the kids had been asking grandpa to use mine...grandpa is the one who goes and gets them and returns them.) We also got a couple of self contained puzzle activites (so no pieces could get loose in the car) on an easy and a little harder level to help take up the time. And we slip in a dvd when they are tired and just want to be entertained.

My son -- he'll be 4 in a month -- has been traveling since he was about 4 months old. He's an expert traveler now! I would say his favorite toy is a baggie full of foamie stickers and regular stickers in various characters (like Thomas) and animals or insects. He likes to stick them on a foamie sheet. He likes to play with the different shapes, characters, etc. and sort of recreate stories for himself. Keeps his hands busy and mind focused. Clean up is not as bad as you might think either.

Never been to this site, but its in favs now, with our frequent trips to Nana's in NC with 4 kids. I have to say the #1 travel toy is Nintendo DS (so many kinds of games) but they only last as long as the charge (our trips are about 15 hours straight). Audio books are right up there too. They will all shut up and listen when a story is on!
BUT it would be cool to win this prize so I can get each of them one of those nice lap desks because next on the list is just drawing, they love to draw, and they could have a new lap desk and art pad for the next trip out.
Elizabeth on October 6, 2008 at 10:24 a.m.

On our 4-hour flight to St. Thomas in March, our 1-year-old was kept occupied for longer than expected with a boardbook of "Old MacDonald" within a hand puppet with a different animal on each finger. It was fabulous. I doubt it will work for our soon-to-be 21-month-old on our next flight - a 20 hour trip to Hong Kong!

My favorite travel toy is the crayon roll so that they all have a home and crayons don't end up everyone on the floor. m_huston(at)hotmail(dot)com
