My friend just started a new blog, Dog Jaunt focused on traveling with small dogs. I know little about this subject, but I love her pragmatic approach, great writing and adorable dog Chloe. If you want to know more about topics like keeping your dog safe in a car, staying in hotels with a dog, or traveling by small plane, this is a great place to start.

Awesome, I'll definitely check out her site now that I find myself with a small dog...and a full travel schedule. Would love to take her with me!

Nice idea for a blog, but I could do without the shameless kid-hating on her about dogjaunt page:

"By contrast, I have been repeatedly annoyed by the appearance, sound, behavior and aroma of babies and toddlers, who are welcomed in U.S. restaurants. Does anyone really think that a table or banquette that’s been drooled on by a baby with a leaky diaper is clean once a busboy swipes a quick towel over it? Haven’t we all been approached by a sticky toddler demanding conversation and amusement? Or heard a child in the midst of a meltdown? Why have babies and toddlers not been banned from U.S. retail establishments where food is served?"

Hi, Alice -- I'm sorry it came across as kid-hating. For context, you need to see a few of the comments that people post about the idea of dogs accompanying diners! My point is that for every dog-pooping-on-the-floor scenario, there is an equally horrendous child scenario that we've all encountered. A clean and well-behaved baby or child is a perfect delight in a restaurant -- and in Europe, so are clean and well-behaved dogs.
