Giveaway - Pac Back Hands Free Car Seat Carrier Giveaway

I just received a Pac Back hands free car seat carrier backpack from Cheeky Monkey. I'm delighted to be able to offer it to one lucky reader in our first ever giveaway!

This Giveaway is now closed. To learn about new giveaways as they become available, please  Subscribe to our feed

The Pac Back, first featured in our article on Using Car Seat Carriers to get through the Airport and your Flights is essentially a full backpack harness that attaches to your car seat. It includes a padded waist strap and lumbar support to keep you comfortable, yet it is small enough that your car seat should still slide through the x-ray machine as easily as before. The system does not include a cover, so it isn't meant to protect the car seat if you gate check it.

The Pac Back is a great way to keep your hands free (so that you can, for example, push a stroller). When the Pac Back is not in use, it packs flat in its own bag and would slide easily into a carry-on sized rolling bag.

If you'd like a chance to win a Cheeky Monkey Pac Back and Jar Pac leave us a comment below Midnight PST on Wed April 9 and tell us where you plan to go on your next family vacation. If you wish to be contacted by e-mail if you win, please include your e-mail address in your comment (email addresses are never public). Otherwise you must check back here to see if you won.

We'll choose a winner randomly and announce the results here on Thursday April 10. Many thanks to Cheeky Monkey for generously sponsoring this giveaway.

  34. Nancy on April 2, 2008 at 4:44 a.m.

This is a brilliant idea! Our next trip is back to NJ from Ireland. We live in Ireland but are moving back to USA in about 8 months. What I could've done with that carseat for the last 2 journies!

    Thanks

  35. Nancy on April 2, 2008 at 5:32 a.m.

TESTIMONIAL: I have owned this Pac Back for almost three years (it was a replacement for a different carrier that barely survived only one travel trip). It is PERFECT! Lots of cushioning on the shoulder straps, extremely easy to hookup to the carseat, very strong and durable (I've had no worry about it breaking/tearing/coming apart)! HIGHLY recommend this - a MUST - for everyone travelling.
(no, I do not work for the manufacturer - I simply LOVE LOVE LOVE this product and believe it's truly one of the the best products out there.)

  36. Sam on April 2, 2008 at 6:05 a.m.

We are heading to Florida and given our challenges last time (rain, shoe removal and inspection by security at every opportunity, nightmare lines at airport security, canceled flight), this would be a lovely item to have. Thank you!

  37. Sonia on April 2, 2008 at 6:12 a.m.

We're planning on going to Florida for two weeks in August with our 2 year old. In the past we always used the infant carrier, but he has, of course, outgrown it. This is perfect! Much better than the awkward car seat bags!

  38. Shani on April 2, 2008 at 6:30 a.m.

We're taking our second annual trip to the Jersey Shore in June. Last year, the airline lost our 2 car seats. (It was our first time traveling by airplane with our toddlers, and we checked the seats in with the luggage because they were too heavy to carry) The Pac Back would have saved us a lot of headaches & having to buy 2 new carseats!

  39. Blanca on April 2, 2008 at 7:38 a.m.

We're going to Utah in May, but we travel to Spain every Christmas to visit our family. This is a great idea for us.

  40. Elif on April 2, 2008 at 7:43 a.m.

We are headed to Turkey for a few weeks with our 13 month old and this sounds fantastic. Toting the infant seat was so much easier than the convertible. Thanks!

  41. TaMi on April 2, 2008 at 7:55 a.m.

Definitely a lot easier to carry the seat than a bag version! Otherwise, OH MY ACHING BACK!

  42. Melanie on April 2, 2008 at 8:54 a.m.

Well, my parents are taking the extended family to the Jersey Shore in August. But we're talking about a trip to Montreal before then! My daughter (14 months) and I are heading to Boston for Passover though, and I'm going to try the go go kidz travelmate. I think this Pac Back might be the better route though.

  43. Kathryn on April 2, 2008 at 9:07 a.m.

Heading to Southern CA to visit the grandparents

  44. Pam on April 2, 2008 at 9:16 a.m.

"Oh, The Places I'll Go". First, to Colorado (two kids 3.5 and 21 months), then to Florida. Where next? Who knows?! Would love to have the Pac Back for assistance.

  45. Jane on April 2, 2008 at 10:08 a.m.

We're headed to California to get some sunshine. We've used the straps on the carseat to make it into a pseudo-backpack, but boy is it uncomfortable. This looks like a better solution.

  46. Chris Irvin on April 2, 2008 at 10:28 a.m.

Traveling to Kauai with my almost two year old in June (first vacation with him!) an would to try one of these out.

  47. Jamie on April 2, 2008 at 10:29 a.m.

Wow, all the places people are traveling to! I have a case of travel envy.

We are definitely going to San Francisco for our first family vacation with the 2 year old, but also have some upcoming trips to NC and FL to see family...I've been wondering what we would do to juggle the carseat and kid!

  48. Amy on April 2, 2008 at 10:37 a.m.

We are off to Hawaii for a week in August for my sister-in-law's wedding. I think this item would be wonderful for our trip!

This is *so* what we need for our cross-country trip next month.

  51. marjorie on April 2, 2008 at 3:34 p.m.

What a great product- I recently saw someone with one and it looked vastly easier than how I carry carseats in the airport- upside down on my head. Yeah. I know how cool I am. (But hey, you aren't supposed to carry them by the straps!) Our next family trip will be to San Antonio to see family!

  52. Becky on April 2, 2008 at 3:55 p.m.

This would rock when we visit my sister in AZ from PA.

  61. Carissa on April 3, 2008 at 7:04 a.m.

We are flying to California with our three kids and this would be a great help in getting all the gear through the airport.

  62. Christina W on April 3, 2008 at 7:20 a.m.

This summer we are headed to our hometown to meet our newest nephew, and get in some time with the rest of our tribe! (I made a firm stand that this year we'd spend Christmas at home so we could go somewhere special on our family vacation; but then my sis-in-law had a baby. The best-laid plans, I guess) Though I believe that we are going to include an Ashram trip as well - so I guess there's nothing wrong with a little spiritual communing in the Sierras, lol. The Pac Bac would be a handy item to have, as it would allow us to gate-check a car seat, and allow us one more luggage item. (A baby, toddler, big-man, and more-is-better me = LOTS of luggage!)

  63. rachel on April 3, 2008 at 7:23 a.m.

We have family all over the country. We plan on visiting my parents in Arizona soon.

  64. marilyn on April 3, 2008 at 7:32 a.m.

Wish I could claim an exotic locale but...we're headed to Indianapolis Indiana. My cuddilicious 1 year old is too big for the stroller\carseat combos that we used when he was itty bitty.

  65. LN on April 3, 2008 at 7:33 a.m.

Whoa. This is ingenious. About time someone thought up this idea!

  102. Laura Leslie on April 6, 2008 at 1:55 p.m.

We're flying to Boise Idaho the first week of May. I have a 3 year old and a 2 month old and I'm dreading dealing with both my son's infant seat and my daughters LARGE car seat made for a 3 year old. I was thinking about buying a dolly, but this sounds like a much better option. Gives me the 2 hands I will so need to make the long trek from Florida to Boise.

  103. codeCrafter on April 7, 2008 at 12:03 p.m.

Oh we so need one of those! My husband is from Jamaica so we go there at least once a year some years twice. When my son was in the infant seat it was hard enough but our last trip with the toddler seat was a nightmare! It was so awkward to carry and our seat is really heavy. We have a minimum of 2 layovers on the trip and often was go through O'Hare...

  104. Gretchen on April 8, 2008 at 2:58 p.m.

We plan on a trip to Chicago this summer to met up with families we met while adopting our son from Kazakhstan. We are also planning our second adoption which should occur this summer as well and we will need to travel for that too. We won't know where until we are matched. We could really use this back pack carrier.
