Photo Friday: Halloween In Paris

If you are participating in Photo Friday this week, please be sure to link to your post directly, not to your home page, so that readers can find your post later in the week

When we took the baby E to Paris in 2005, I was bummed that we would miss celebrating his first Halloween here at home. To my husband's chagrin, I dragged along a bulky bumblebee costume in our already overstuffed luggage.

Still, halloween was a blast for everyone. We took E to the Eiffel Tower for a photo op, and then retired to this cafe for lunch. Seated on the in the sidewalk, E was a magnet for every passing French grandmother. These normally reserved (and impeccably dressed) women pinched his cheeks, made funny faces, and fawned over him, and he just soaked in it.

Later in the day, Paris' schools let out, and french children (all dressed as either witches or goblins) galavanted through the city, picking up cookies and other sweets at the best bakeries. Now that the kids are old enough to reach the counter, don't you think we should return for another Paris Halloween?

That explains that cute picture in the navigation!

You'll have to learn how to say "Trick or Treat" in French . . .

It looks like E really enjoyed all the attention he got in Paris. What a little ham, eh? :P

Love the picture of your hubby and the bee!

My entry's a little untraditional today, but it's important. :-)

    Have a great day, everyone!

I absolutely must know . . . what do Parisian patisseries give out for Halloween? I'll don a costume for a French pastry any day!

Actually, I've recently learned that Halloween, which only just appeared in France about 10 years ago, is now on a decline. One of the native French readers of my blog told me that it's almost non-existent this year.

Treasure your Halloween in Paris experience. It may, indeed, turn out to be something wonderful and rare.

Please delete #22 if you can. I accidentally included the same link from the previous submission. -- Thank you.

Happy Halloween to you and yours in Paris!

    Cheers,

Great idea with Photo Friday and I must admit it's an idea I've had myself for a long time, but I never seem to get it going, so now I can thank you for doing it :-)

I'll have to remember to participate next Friday!

Oh, the photo is so cute, both having such great face expressions.

Yes, I do think it's time for you to return to Paris for Halloween!

Ah, Paris.... My husband proposed to me there in 2004... *romantic thoughts*

    Happy traveling :-)

Since it's my first time at your blog and I'm not participating this Friday with a photo, I'll leave you my blog address here instead of in the Mr Linky box.

An American friend who's lived in Paris nearly 30 years makes fresh pumpkin pie for his kids every Halloween. Apparently, when they were little they thought pumpkin pie is a traditional Halloween treat, and he did not want to disillusion them. So he was up until midnight last night baking!

Debbie, I definitely think you should go back to Paris for Halloween, and take me with you!

I couldn't justify linking to my Halloween post, since all photos were taken at my house! I'll be back next week...
