Photo Friday: Asleep at Last

When went to Chicago with Baby Eilan, he was still small enough that putting him in a hotel crib meant dropping him the last inch or so (counterproductive to say the least). Add to that, the fact that the hotels I stayed in had luxuriously fluffy pillow-topped mattresses (I.e. built in baby suffocation hazards). The easiest thing to do was to sleep on my back with Eilan on top of me each night - hardly the most restful situation. That's why I felt so free this week when he fit comfortably in the hotel crib!

A small victory, but traveling with baby Eilan is already starting to get easier.

We just got back from vacation where my 2 year old refused to sleep alone so ended up sharing the bed with me and kicking me half the night. I totally know where you're coming from. Glad to hear you got a good night's rest!

Three cheers to you! Every milestone is a huge win. Reminds me that I need to do more basking in the sun - he makes it look so easy!

There's no better feeling than FINALLY getting them to sleep after a long day. Great picture!

Fold-able ball pits (which coil up to the size of a sweater) work too as a travel crib that isn't the size of a piece of luggage (I would only suggest this for the "before crawling" crowd!) Plus you can use it at home for naps first so your little one is used to it and it smells like home. That and a sleep sack have kept us "dropping the last inch" free... and good thing because our little guy is highly insulted at the slightest shake between sleep and transportation to his bed.

Looking at the pic, I all of a sudden wanted to be a baby again :-)
