Photo Friday: Seattle Light Rail With Kids

E has always loved riding the train, so he was beyond thrilled this summer when Seattle got its very own light rail line. When fellow blogger Heather Poole visited Seattle last week he insisted on dragging her on the light rail. (She posted a cute story and video that you can find here). What Heather doesn't know is that his obsession has only grown since then. We have been on the train every day this week, and we are systematically visiting each station and exploring the neighborhood around it.

Here is a shot from Beacon Hill Station, a tunnel station located about 160 feet underground (about 13 stories). Like every station on the line, it has an interesting art installation. We've enjoyed checking the art in each station, but this is my favorite.

It's amazing how much children are fascinated with trains and train stations! I love the art work on display, it seems like a lot of fun for kids and gives me the impression of a futuristic station.
Thanks for hosting photo friday, it's fantastic to share photos with so many great people.

This reminds me that we should ride Detroit's People Mover around town and take photos of the installations at the stations!
Looks like your kids are having a great time!

I'm fascinated by mass transit too! I guess I'm still a kid at heart.

Great picture. I like "action shots" like these where you see that children really don't ever hold still. ;)

My kids are fascinated with the metro in DC and the MARTA in Georgia! It is one of the highlights of our trips! The artwork is very cool!

Mr. Linky posted the name of my last Photo Friday, not the current one (Buddha in SF). I can't seem to correct it. Sorry.

    Thanks for hosting this!

You should bring him down to San Francisco so he can ride the vintage cable cars and street cars.

BART can be thrilling too - had a green parrot appear at my feet once (better than a snake). Sorry the kids missed it!
Debbie - My sincere apologies. I don't know how my posts keep ending up on whichever was the prior Photo Friday post! Does this happen to anyone else or is it somehow my mommybrain override? Not trying to be obnoxious. Please delete extra post on last Friday's. ;-)
