I can't leave without the toy bag. It is a little makeup bag with toys only used when at restaurants, appointments or waiting areas. I rotate things in out and it has saved me from screaming fits more than once!

Besides the basic diapers and wipes, we never leave home without a snack. Helps us to avoid meltdowns from hunger.

When my kids were small I never left home without my front carrier-I couldn't live without having my hands free. Now that they're a little bigger the must-take item travel item is definitely a snack/treat bag.

  13. Erin F on September 20, 2011 at 10:19 a.m.

In addition to the obvious (snacks, wipes, and toys), we always travel with a small roll of masking-style tape. We've used this to baby-proof outlets, lock the tray table on the airplane (by taping over the latch), to make crafts, and to repair toys.
