Tacoma With Kids: Hotel Murano
During our stay in Tacoma, we were guests of the Hotel Murano. I received no other compensation, and the hotel did not require that I express a particular point of view.
I have been experimenting with video lately, so I thought I'd make a short clip about the hotel. One thing that I do not show in the video is that each floor in the hotel is decorated with art glass from a different artist along with pictures of that artist at work. A quiet visit to several floors of the hotel was a nice way to wind down before bed, and a great compliment to our excursion to the Museum of Glass. The kids really were fascinated, and I think it gave them a better sense of the wide variety of shapes, textures, and colors that glass can take on. Click here for my full review of the Hotel Murano
I'd love feedback on the video - so please leave a comment and tell me what you think. Did you like it? Hate it? Would you like to see more?

My honest opinion? 99% of the time I skip right past video in blog posts. I can read a post and look at pictures much faster; video takes a specific time commitment that I'm not usually willing to invest.
Yours was well-done, though--I liked the music, short clip of the kids, and the fact that it was short.
But I still only watched it because you asked for comments. :-)

It's funny, I've been wanting to give video a try for some time because I think it can add more richness to a story, but like you I rarely watch videos.
I think that a lot of times the blogger isn't respectful of the viewer's time. And when things don't move quickly, I usually just browse away. I have to hear some great reviews in order to stick around.
I'm also trying to figure out what stories are told best with video, and which stories are best in print. There are some things that it's just not possible to show or explain any other way. I'll probably be experimenting a bunch over the next several months. Luckily, I'm finding it fun to dive in with something totally new.
Also, I personally skim blogs just after I settle the kids into bed (and return later to read anything meaty) That tends to work against me watching a lot of video too.
