Photo Friday: Sleeping Through the Best Museums in Italy

Corsini Gallery in Rome
Corsini Gallery in Rome

I have countless pictures of E and D asleep in museums around the world. If you didn't know better, you might think that they just slept through every trip. The fact is that until they were over 2, we tried to time museum trips during naptime. Sure, we could find ways to entertain them if we had to, but it was so much more pleasant to enjoy the artwork at a grownup's pace.

Museums are definitely a good place for young children to nap!

I'd always rather do something while they're napping! There's no fun in visiting a museum with babies or young toddlers who might kick off at any moment.

Very good tips, seeing museums when the toddlers are asleep.

I'm a bit prone to sleeping through museums myself. Glad I'm not alone ;-)

Makes sense to take your kids through the museum in nap time. This gives you the peace and time needed. I would have loved my parents to have done this instead as a child.

This makes me positively nostalgic for the stroller days! We're lucky now if they fall asleep in the car on the way home.

This is my favorite pic that you have ever posted...gorgeous light and composition and a good reminder of days that will quickly become a blurred memory of traveling with little ones. Good tactic for timing museum visits during nap time. We had some success with that, too but more often than not I wanted/needed a nap, too!

Agree with the comment about this being a favorite Photo Friday shot - you can almost feel the peacefulness come through.

We saw the British Museum back in 1989 while my son Mike dozed in his stroller.

I do the same thing! Nap time is parents' best friend!

It's all about timing and working around your kid's schedule and needs ... glad to you see you found a balance where many others can't!
